Local Area

This is a wonderful area for walking. We are just off the South Downs Way in the new South Downs National Park. There are many footpaths and areas of open access downland from where there are wonderful views inland and towards the sea. There are also many other walking opportunities in the area.

Sussex is rich in history and culture too. There is a diversity of National Trust and other historic buildings and gardens in the region, as well as the beautiful countryside to explore and enjoy.

We are 2 miles from the heart of the historic county town of Lewes with its castle, battlegrounds, ancient buildings and museum and also a variety of antique shops, bookshops, workshops and many restaurants.

The Glyndebourne International Opera House is a 10-minute drive.

Brighton is close (7 miles), with easy access from Kingston. The Universities (3 miles) and Plumpton College (6 miles) are also near.

The Sussex Coast and the port of Newhaven are within 6 miles.

Kingston village, itself, is reputed to be on the oldest trackway in Britain and retains its old-world charm. ‘The Street’ is a conservation area and is ideal for a short stroll, with the fine parish church, two manors, a couple of farm houses and the old farm workers’ cottages.
